How are objects qualified in release 7? Is the initial Mapics job setting
the library list? You could use a different job description for users not
using Mapics programs, just setting AMFLIB and maybe AMTLIB if any offline
stuff is done. Then use the AMAPICS group profile for your normal Mapics
users. That's pretty much what we do here although we still are on version
6.something of XA.

Thanks,

Mark

To list,

Many moons ago we installed MAPICS on the AS/400 and made AMFLIB, AMTLIB,
and AMALIB part of the user portion of the system library list. The
thought behind this was that we use many programs that use the MAPICS files
outside of the MAPICS system and did not want to have to qualify every file
used. This has worked well for us but we are now rethinking this and
wondering if there is a better way to handle it. Every user has a default
menu that is not MAPICS and many users may never access MAPICS during the
day, but will need to access MAPICS files. We are in the process of going
to release 7 and one of the steps in the migration process states that the
MAPICS libraries should not be in the library list. How are others
handling this and what are our exposures?

Thanks for your input.

David Lauderdale
