Chris, IFM has its own security functions that do not apply to the rest of MAPICS. The two most useful features are Application Security and Unit Security. Application Security lets you restrict access to sensitive functions (e.g. entering and paying invoices, recording customer payments, writing off bad debts). If you turn on Application Security it applies to all users. The best way to use this feature is to identify the sensitive tasks that you want to protect and assign them to unique "applications". Then assign the remaining tasks to a generic application. When you set up users, always give them access to the generic application and then grant access to protected applications as needed. Unit Security lets you limit access to specific units. You can use this feature to let non-financial users view their actual and budget data or restrict access to sensitive information within the financial organization. To use this feature, you need to set up and maintain unit structures that contain the units that users can access. Then, you need to link the users to these unit structures. I will be glad to e-mail you-all an excerpt from my "MAPICS XA International Financial Management Book" that covers IFM's security features.
