Dale, We NEVER use the MAPICS "save disk-to-tape" option. On a nightly basis, we use the MAPICS autoback process to backup to disk then use the pre- and post-backup procedures to initialize the tape and save various libraries to tape, including AMSLIB as the last library to backup. In this process, we are backing up user libraries to tape while MAPICS is saving the files to disk. We do not eject the tape as a general rule, primarily to be able to include additional backups over the weekends when no one is there to change tapes. You could easily add the option to display the tape, then eject it after the display is complete. We have been doing this for several years. Prior to the MAPICS AUTOBACK process, we had our own procedure to accomplish the same thing. The MAPICS process was a lot easier and managed the shutdown of active workstations and browser sessions prior to the backup better than we did, so we switched to the MAPICS process when it was available. Currently, we run an unattended MAPICS backup to disk (for speed) during the 3rd shift lunch break (3am). Then during 1st shift, I run the MAPICS "Save disk backup to tape" option. Then I have to reload the tape and do a DSPTAP *PRINT to satisfy the SARBOX people. Unfortunately, the "Save disk backup to tape" is interactive only, and it auto-ejects the tape at the end, which precludes me from using Robot to do that portion (I have to reload the tape to get the DSPTAP printout). I asked the response line what that option does and was told to either do a SAVLIB of AMSLIB, or SAVOBJ of the various objects in AMSLIB (AMFBCKM, AMTBCKM, yadda, yadda), but that doesn't give me the same thing that I get when I manually run the "Save disk backup to tape". Has anyone on this thread written their own version of the "Save disk backup to tape"?
