Modifying the pick procedure in XA 6 COM

We are new to XA, and don't like the double tranactions to get shipments out 
the door.  First we pick to a shipping location and then do the shipping 
transaction to relieve inventory and get the the shipment ready for invoicing.  
What our Warehouse people want to do is a SA transaction in IM, and then have a 
routine that would fill in the blanks in the Shipping  Workbench.  Has anybody 
done a similar modification?  What are the potential problems?
