In R7 of iSeries MAPICS, some of the outboard server function can run on a
Windows or Linux platform.
This includes the:
MAPICS Java Server
Custom Definition Server
WebSphere Application Server
System-Link
Net-Link

The database and legacy code still must exist on an iSeries.

Currently the iSeries supports 3 Linux distributions:
RedHat
Suse
Turbolinux

Check out this document for which iSeries models support Linux:
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/linux/pdfs/guide.pdf

Would also be interested in hearing of users who have implemented R7 and
offloaded some
of this server work from the iSeries.
What's the performance like?
How reliable?

Ron
