be ware, vanilla mapics only tracks mfg cost of matl by 'std' or 'ave'
   NOT ACTUAL.

also, Labor reported to an MO is at 'std' rate or actual payrolll rate ,
but once the MO closes the and the item received into inventory, again we
are back to either 'std' cost, with variance , or

'ave' cost . That may be fine, but Ill bet neither one is what your
lookin for ?? It can get very complicated.

Look at the Job accounting application. Another way would be to create
   the
MO per the CO and the system will maintain a link for reporting. The
Browser application CSM will allow a MO to be released for each item on
   the
CO. Another way would be to enter the CO and then create an MO for each
manufactured item and manually put the CO number in the "Customer Job"
number field in the Manufacturing order master. This would support
reporting by project (Customer CO Number, all cost creation, updating and
tracking would be handled by the normal MAPICS function.

Is anyone using the MAPICS costing system as a job costing system?
We need to find a better way to track our costing, and a job costing
   system
seems to be preferred. Cost are dependent on the number of items ordered
   and
manufactured in the same MO. The standard of the item will change.
We do not want to involve CSR's in any of these processes, they just enter
   the order.
Finished good items are not the problem, it is those item that are made to
   order.
