It can be done, in several different ways.  If you search the archives of
the list at www.midrange.com you'll find that it's been discussed before.  I
would suggest looking at those past discussions, which should give you most
of the information you'll need, and then posting any specific questions you
may have.

I've recently been assigned to administer our 400 and was wanting to
automate the backup process.  About the only time we can get a dedicated
system is on the weekend.  I saw something regarding a Save While Active
and how this could be used throughout the week and then do a full Mapics
on the weekend.  I was wondering if the whole backup process (getting
dedicated system, changing the status of open and abend jobs, cleaning
up Inventory ....) could be done using CL programming?  Thanks for your
