Steve,

We do not use the MAPICS save to do our nightly backups.  Instead, we use the
standard IBM backup procedures that are configurable through Operations 
Navigator.
However, I do run the MAPICS backup once a quarter to clear out the batch 
files.
We're not a 24/7 shop so it's easy to schedule it for a weekend run.
