Dear Bonnie: It has been my experience that most of the major printer manufacturers all make excellent equipment. Support from them is excellent as well. The key to keeping this hardware up and running is the environment that they are running in as well as the media that you use. If you use say an Intermec printer, it is strongly recommended that you use Intermec media. Intermec still offers a warranty on their print heads if they fail using Intermec media. Also keep the printer as clean as possible, especially the print head. Q-tips and alcohol or alcohol wipes are excellent for the print heads and will extend the life of them. ISE (Paper-Less) offers solutions integrated with MAPICS and the AS/400 and hardware from the top venders including Intermec. I hope this help you. Does anyone have strong feelings about any particular brands? We use Telxon hand held & forklift scanners and Zebra & Intermec printers now. The Zebra's are old and getting touchy. CFO frowns on maintenance contracts so we need something that can take a beating and keep on ticking. Thanks, Bonnie Lokenvitz Engineered Polymers *****************************
