Sorry to hear your week has not been so good. Your reply list entry should
have worked. Can you tell from the job log if the "I" was issued and the
Magstar do not continue, or was the "I" not issued at all?

I have had several occurrences when the "I" was issued but the Magstar
dropped the ball and did not respond correctly.

Did not work. This hasn't been a good week for me. Sunday we did not get a
back up because I did not initialize the second tape. Monday we did not get
a full back up because the system was looking for a third tape! Again last
night, no back up because second tape was not initialized (intentionally)
and the reply list entry did not work. Received the message:

Bryan,

I let the computer do the work.

The INZTAP is at the beginning of my CLP for the backup. When the second
tape is needed and the CPA 4278 message is issued, it is answered
automatically by an OS400's reply list entry. See WRKRPYLE.

Anybody out there doing back ups to a Magstar 3570 with two tapes? If so,
how do you initialize the second tape? Although I have specified MAPICS to
initialize all tapes in CAS screen AXZU93, MAPICS only initializes the
first tape.

I must manually initialize the second tape and if I forget (like I did very
recently), the back up is going to hang with a CPA4278 message (active file
found on this volume) until someone answers the message, which could be many
hours. Anyone have a solution to this?
