Nandu, Here is some info on the Item Accounting Class (IAC) that might be helpful: a.. The IAC "lives" on the ITEMASA and ITEMBAL files. If you enter the IAC on the ITEMBAL file, it trumps the IAC on the ITEMASA. b.. When you enter a customer order or credit memo, COM automatically gets the IAC from the ITEMASA or ITEMBAL files. There is no provision for user overrides because having order entry clerks make accounting decisions is usually a bad idea. c.. As the previous postings explained, the IAC is carried throughout the COM customer order files. The shipment detail file is your best bet because it shows the actual credit memo issued. If you are tracking credit memos that do not involve shipments (e.g. price adjustments) then you should use the MBCDREP (CDA0CD) line item file. d.. If you want to report about credit memos, I suggest that you use the Reason Code field on the COM Order Header or Order Detail screens. Here's why: (1) You can enter Reason Codes as needed and there is a subfile that contains reason code descriptions that you can use in your report; (2) You do not have to set up reason codes when you set up new items; (3) The Reason Code does not impact the COM general ledger interface. You might consider taking a more proactive approach to credit memos by having high-value credit memos approved by your company's decision makers BEFORE they are issued.
