Thanks for all the help. I will try to talk the users out of it. If that does not work I will propably go with a similar method to what Dale is doing for now. -----Original Message----- From: DaleGindlesperger@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:DaleGindlesperger@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, May 15, 2003 10:30 AM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Subject: RE: Item Revision single transaction interface Chris, We've had to do what you are describing, and we wrote a nightly synchronization program that runs every 3rd shift. We have two sites, and we have problems with users not changing all the relavent records. We have some required slightly different fields between sites, and we handle that programmagically. Am I happy we had to do that? No. Did I do it anyway? Yes. The Browser is a very efficient tool for this, and I think it's sad that we have to write code to make sure people do their jobs correctly when we give them a tool that powerful. We actually had to write a green screen program for our Purchasing department to allow fast cost changes (we recost quarterly) rather than use the Browser. I didn't like that either, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I am trying to create a real-time interface so I don't think offline load will work. Has anyone tried this? Any assistance is appreciated.
