Outside Operations

How do ya'll handle outside operations when setting up product structures 
and item types?

Such as this following example

Finished Good
        + Part 1
        + Part 2
        + Subassembly 1
                + Part A
                + Part B
        + Sub assembly 2 (This sub assembly is an outside operation which 
we provide the components for
                + Part C
                + Part D
        +Part 3
