Konrad, Managed to get thru the last pcm (4141) once..We are in a test mode
trying to get R5.5 to R6.0... This last time has been real bad... Still working
out some problems. Environment is half applied so it is un-usable.. Giving some
serious thought that when I do this for real at the end of April not applying
4140..

I don't disagree. It depends upon what you are comfortable with. IMHIST has
a very high transaction rate, the cited RPs and PQs probably form 10% or
less of overall transactions. You can inspect each transaction via the
trigger or just process ones that meet your criteria via the update program.
For me adding anything into the IMHIST path would have to be an overwhelming
need, short transaction paths are good long ones suck.

Given the change rate of MAPICS programs modifying MAPICS has the advantage
of stabilizing a program at a known level of function or disfunction. A well
documented two line call modification sitting ahead of the MAPICS code is
easy to maintain at release time.

Which begs the question anyone get the latest CD running in a usable form
yet?

Konrad

What downsides do you see with Triggers? If used correctly and coded
correctly, there is very little overhead.

You just have to be sure that you know what you are doing with files that
have triggers so that you don't shoot yourself in the foot. Once you do
that once, you learn your lesson and normally don't do it a second time.

The benefits of not modifying MAPICS programs, especially the programs
that update IMHIST more than outweighs any downsides. Also, if you are
unsure or don't have source for MAPICS you can still perform the functions
that you need.

Triggers do have their downsides. I would just look into the IMHIST post
program, look for the write to IMHIST for the PQ or RP then call my
program
inline or if you want to be more efficient fire off a data queue entry and
process them with another async job that is waiting on the data queue.

Hey MAPICSfans!

I need to call a inhouse CL after an RP or a PQ transactions are
successfully posted. I have looked in the MAPICS archives and MIDRANGE's
but I was not successful.

Can you give me some ideas?

TIA,
