We used to address this situation by setting up the PRICING UNIT OF
MEASURE.
We'd set it to a 'C' for 100, 'M' for 1000
Go to COM > File Maintenance > Unit of Measure > Unit of Measure Master

U/M Description
BG BAG
BX BOX
C 100
M 1000

Set up conversion matrix (make it bi-directional)
Go to COM > File Maintenance > Unit of Measure > Item Unit of Measure
Conversion

Item number From From U/M To
To U/M Rounding
                              quantity code
quantity code option
01499 1.00000 C =
100.00000 EA 0
01499 100.00000 EA = 1.00000
C 0

Change desired item's code from 'EA' to desired ratio
Go to COM > File Maintenance > Pricing > Item Base Prices

Enter an order for particular item type:

I entered a qty of 100, price of .002 per 100 (because PUM is C, it divs
.02 / 100 = .0002/ea)

Net sale become $0.02, per unit price become .0002

Pretty cool, eh?

Has anyone ever had the need to modify MAPICS in such a way as to
allow entry of COM order items with a decimal value of more than 3 places?

I am wondering just how difficult (read dangerous) it would be to modify
the
current order entry app to allow this?

The rounding of the final line item amount to 2 places is not a problem,
this what we would prefer.
(.33333 X 65335 = $21,778.11555) then rounded,
equals $21,778.12 - this is precisely what is needed

Problem is with current system and it's decimal place limitation, this what
happens
(.33 X 65355 = $21,560.55)

Difference of $217.57!
