This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Hi Joan, It doesn't surprise me that it isn't well known, in spite of it being a requirement. I think it's filtering down through legal channels, not the normal support channels. Go to the following site for general information on the TREAD act: http://www.rma.org/government/tread_act.html For reporting requirements (I can't believe that we have to report in multi-sheet Excel format - don't these people understand relational databases?) you can go to: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/ewr/index.html It's listed under cars, but impacts anyone producing cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, and so on, that are controlled by NHTSA. You have to report Production, Warranty, Deaths/Injuries, Property Damage, Consumer Complaints (!), and Field reports. Most of the information is just counts, but supporting documentation is required for some catagories. I attended a briefing/seminar on it in Washington last week, and they said that this would be the largest civilian database in the world. Compliance with the reporting is an absolute necessity, and it seems to me that this would be an excellent thing for MAPICS to consider offering as an add-on, either free (like Offline Shipping) or as a minor charge (like MTHACT), to CSM at least - COM also if possible. As I understand it, MAPICS is a very popular product in the transportation industry. Good luck! Dale Gindlesperger IT Manager Fleetwood Folding Trailers, Inc. I assume this is a government requirement, but haven't heard of it until your e-mail. We have to have recording systems in place by 4/1/03. Sounds like a good add-on to COM/CSM, to me. I am curious as to if anyone is working on this, or if you know of an available application to handle this that is integrated to MAPICS. There are some SERIOUS fines for non-compliance, ranging from $5,000-to-$15,000,000/day. If there isn't something out there already, or if MAPICS isn't doing anything regarding it, I'll have to do something with Integrator - not that big a deal, except for the government-mandated reporting in multi-sheet Excel format....
