Can you tell me where the "box" is located? It's not in "Properties" - hidden under "Configure" instead of "options" (where I normally look for it). -----Original Message----- From: Barb Nash [mailto:Barb.Nash@phbcorp.com] Sent: Thursday, September 19, 2002 11:44 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: IM Transaction Processing/Entry: Allocating Batches toOrigina ting Workstation Joan, Check out the link below and download the file named "ConfExit.exe" http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/clientaccess/cadownld.htm <http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/clientaccess/cadownld.htm> If you are running Express there is a check box somewhere in the properties which provides the same functionality as the above download. This is painful but very helpful in keeping them from closing with the 'x' before they should. I can't remember where we got it from. Check the IBM Client Access page or midrange-L list. Plus, since we use Windows PC's as terminals, they're too used to hitting the 'X' in the upper right corner when they're done - without getting back to a menu or loging off first! My assistant suggested a hammer to drop on their heads if they try to walk away from the terminal, but it wouldn't work in the shop area - they all wear hard hats! -- Joan Joan McCready, IS Manager phone: 636-479-4499 MetalTek International fax: 636-479-3399 The Carondelet Division www.metaltekint.com 8600 Commercial Blvd Pevely, MO 63070 -----Original Message----- From: Strange, Tim [mailto:TStrange@WesternEnterprises.com] Sent: Thursday, September 19, 2002 8:50 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: IM Transaction Processing/Entry: Allocating Batches toOrigina ting Workstation We force and automatic log off for 60 minutes if inactivity. I favor the 50,000 volts through the keyboard when they mess up, myself! ;-^ Anyone got a "foolproof" way to keep people, particularily shop floor supervisors, from walking away from their PC for a couple of hours when they're in the middle of data entry or maintenance, BTW? It is one of the functions and flexiability that has been in IM since the 1980's that allows anyone to enter transactions into suspended or closed batches. Training your people on how this area works to help support each other will help to decrease the confusion and help them embrace the full functionality provided by this application. Good luck and have a good evening.
