Barb -

Thanks for the info. We are using eWP, which does give a warning message
when they click in the upper right corner, but they just ignore it!

Joan,
Check out the link below and download the file
named "ConfExit.exe"

http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/clientaccess/cadownld.htm
<http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/clientaccess/cadownld.htm>

If you are running Express there is a check box somewhere in the properties
which provides the same functionality as the above download.

Hope this helps,
Barb

There is a PC5250 add-in for client access that will ask the user to confirm
that they want to logoff. This is painful but very helpful in
keeping them from closing with the 'x' before they should. I can't
remember where we got it from. Check the IBM Client Access page or
midrange-L list.

Tim - so do we (90 minutes), but if they leave a edit session open, it
doesn't close properly - which is where the problems occur. Plus, since we
use Windows PC's as terminals, they're too used to hitting the 'X' in the
upper right corner when they're done - without getting back to a menu or
loging off first!

My assistant suggested a hammer to drop on their heads if they try to walk
away from the terminal, but it wouldn't work in the shop area - they all
wear hard hats!

We force and automatic log off for 60 minutes if inactivity. It's not
pretty but it works.

Paola -

Ah, training of the masses... I favor the 50,000 volts through the keyboard
when they mess up, myself! ;-^

Anyone got a "foolproof" way to keep people, particularily shop floor
supervisors, from walking away from their PC for a couple of hours when
they're in the middle of data entry or maintenance, BTW? I just had to clear
workstation ID's from the ELVDTA file for the umpteenth time this week!

Al,

Unfortunately there is not a way in the MAPICS security to do what you are
suggesting. It is one of the functions and flexiability that has been in IM
since the 1980's that allows anyone to enter transactions into suspended or
closed batches. Training your people on how this area works to help support
each other will help to decrease the confusion and help them embrace the
full functionality provided by this application.

Good luck and have a good evening.
