To all - Ahhh, the joys of a (relatively) new boss!!! We're going over time and attendance, direct and indirect labor and getting said information into the correct accounting "buckets," and I need to know what some of the rest of you are doing in this regard. (PS Our fiscal year starts July 1, so we want to make any changes from the existing system to a better system to kick in then.) We are collecting clock in/out and job on/off for 99% of our staff using MDCC (PaperLess) and processing thru PMC. We do NOT have MAPICS' Payroll module. Since we do not have Payroll, the TA transactions "go away" when we complete a PMC Prepare, so we automagically capture the TA's into a TRDATA-clone file prior to TRDATA being cleared during Prepare. Then we have reports written against the TRDATA-clone as well as the SHOPHST file. What do the rest of you do who are using PMC for labor tracking and payroll? I'd like to hear both from those using the MAPICS Payroll module, and those who use something else. Are you satisfied that you can track time-and-attendance transactions sufficiently to meet the letter and spirit of labor laws? And do you feel you get your labor transactions into the correct accounting buckets? Or do you report some other way and enter a lot of journal entries? Does your MO history accurately reflect labor hours spent on the job with correct variences accounted for? and can you get paid overtime and double time posted correctly without manual intervention? Or does your accountant even care?
