Jim, Pardon me for jumping in, but the query estimator is prone to over-estimating under many conditions. They try to PTF it as they find problems. If you haven't put on the Database Group PTF for your OS/400 release in a while, you may want to try that. You also may want to turn off the query time limit and try the SQL statement at a quiet time. If it does run forever, kill it, but I'll bet it will finish in a reasonable time.
