I was going to mention MAGIC Notes.  Works fine with MAPICS- Lexel is
vendor.  When I upgraded from DB to XA, I had to sql some changes required
by the conversion in order to make things work right.

Yes, we are using OfficeVision. I've made some progress and can access
existing notes (now that I've found some in the test environment). Won't let
me add new ones... Am not too sure of the OfficeVision user set up and know
I have more authority than the standard user ;-)

Lexel's product MAGIC/NOTES is recommended by MAPICS as the replacement

Are you using OfficeVision?  I believe XA Release 6 COM Customer note
function
requires OfficeVision.  Of course, OfficeVision is being discontinued by
IBM.
IBM will not guarantee OV will function as expected.  MAPICS has not, I
don't
believe, indicated anything to us -- the customers.
