Jon, In addition to our common MUI problem I had another strange problem where users were no longer able to do normal things like select an Item Shortage Report in Planner Code sequence or add comments to purchase order line items. The problem was traced back to OS400v5r1 in the security of save files. I'll offer the solution to you 'just in case you need it too'. The common thread to this problem was that users could no longer open and save data in save files in AMXLIB. MAPICS says IBM will fix this in OS400v5r2 but for now they offer PTF SH14382. SH14382 has a FIXAUT command that grants authority to specific libraries. I have only one environment, 'XX', so I ran FIXAUT for my AMXLIBx library. take care, Les Silies -----Original Message----- From: mapics-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:mapics-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of jleroi@tegal.com Sent: Monday, December 17, 2001 11:20 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: accessing non-MAPICS files from within MAPICS Les, Thanks for your assistance. I have applied the PTF and we are moving forward once again. I had a similar problem running Peregrines TrustedLink400 within MAPICS-XAr4 once I went to 5.1. The solution was to apply the latest PTF for MUI. Call the MAPICS support line and ask them for the MUI PTF for 5.1 and MAPICS 5.5. I have restored the system (OS/400, applications and data from the 500 to the 270). All software licenses have been applied and I can execute all of the applications. When I attempt to access ROBOT or a custom program with nonMAPICS files from within a MAPICS environment I get these messages: Pointer not set for location referenced. File RBTOP1 in library ROBOTLIB member or device RBTOP1 not opened. I can execute the same commands and options from outside of MAPICS and they run just fine. What am I missing here? The first problem we had was the routing entries needed to be setup. Are there more items that were possibly not brought forward? Is there a MAPICS manual that I can review for this? Thanks in advance for your time and assistance.
