Chris,

At my old MAPICS job we were mirroring to a second machine, although we were
using DataMirror rather than MIMIX. Definitely discuss the licensing issue
with your affiliate. If you're not actually going to run MAPICS on the
second machine unless your first machine goes down, you may be able to have
your affiliate hold the license keys for you for a very small amount of
money, with the agreement that they provide them to you quickly if they're
needed. In our case, we also used the second machine for testing, so we
actually got full licensing for it, and they did give us a very steep
discount on it. Later on we converted to user-based pricing, and they still
honored the deep discount for the second machine. This was several years
ago, but I'd be pretty surprised if they've become inflexible about this
since then. Good luck in your negotiations!

Anyone out there using MIMIX to synchronize two AS/400s that are running
MAPICS? The second AS/400 being used just for recovery, backup, and
maintenance purposes. Do you have to get a second MAPICS license?

Thanks
Chris
