Yes, MDATES are usually ignored.  They are interesting for what they are, in
the rare case they are needed.  There is also a change date, time and
"changed-by program" in the record that is sometimes interesting in
researching anomolies.  I think that researching problems is the function of
these date fields, not daily usage.
