I'm on version R5,

As a normal part of periodic maintenance I DFU:

AMFLIB/GRPJOB & AMFLIB/MNTXFILE

to delete old users, also I delete old profiles by going to:

CAS, Security Maintenance >>
Work With MAPICS XA User Profiles

Using 4 to delete old profiles.

We have just gone from Rel 2 to Rel 4 and discovered a "hole" in the
security. Users who had been deleted in Rel 2. showed back up. Users
still on the system, with the beginning letter P, and above, disappeared.
When I called MAPICS, I was told they are aware of it but that no fix was

available.

When I went to put back in the missing users, I discovered their
authorities to each module came back. This brought about some playing. I
put a user on the system into MAPICS and granted all authorities. I then
deleted the user from MAPICS. I then removed the User from the AS/400. I
then went back and put the same user profile back on the system and then
created the user in MAPICS. No surprise, all authorities showed up.
Again, I called MAPICS and was told they are aware but there is no fix.
The only suggestion given was to remove all authorities first, then delete

the user. If you are not upgrading, you could have "GHOST" users floating
around. In small shops (or large), if you use initials for users ids, you
can have some major problems.

Beware and pay close attention at upgrade time to your MAPICS Security
ID's.
