We reorg monthly - all files with deleted records and recommended files.

We purge history records at different times - Inventory transactions quarterly,
Purchasing semi-annually, Payroll yearly, AR yearly, AP yearly,  EDI every 2
years, COM Shipment History every year,  MO History - yearly....can't remember
them all.   Have a documented schedule for the system operator to follow.

So much depends on the size of your files and the availability of time for some
dedicated functions.
