APTRAN File Mapics DB and XA -- MAPICS-L

We use the APTRAN file in MAPICS to interface with another of our
applications.  We are currently running under DB V4 and plan migrate to XA.

Question:  Is there any way in DB (most important at the moment) that we can
populate the APTRAN file so that when checks are printed a message (that we
control via the programs populating the file) appears in the remittance
advice.  I can't seem to find it anywhere?

Conversely, it appears in XA there are some new fields/formats in APTRAN
that contain user defined data.  Can I use them for the remittance
advice????? or is there some other way.
