At GNP our "shop packets" (including picking lists) were custom (still are,
probably, it's just I don't work there anymore).  They are typically printed
just a few hours before they're needed.  The shop packet printers are
available to manufacturing 24x7 - they run what they need whenever they want
to, and only involve IT people when there's a problem (every day or two, y'
know - grin).  XAR4 if you're keeping track, although this hasn't changed
substantially since MAPICS I was installed in 1985.
