I believe that scs2pdf is putting the tab character into the generated pdf file, but perhaps the tab character is ignored by the pdf standard (I'd have to check up on that). The generated pdf is plain text, so it should be too hard to look at it with any editor and check if the tab character is present in the file or not. Can you check to see that the tab character is indeed present in the file?
