IBM used several diferent ways to use a PC as an AS/400 console. Operational
console (IMHO V3R1.0 and up), LAN console (V5R1.0 and up) etc.

None of them is using any documented protocol - even more, at least the LAN
console is encrypted and not easy reverse engeneerable.

Modern systems using a HMC (Hardware Management Console) may be accessed by
any tn5250 emulator.
