I was hoping they weren't really noticable.  Of course clearing the screen 
and redrawing is the culprit.  Just so far I haven't gotten satisfactory 
results without clearing (clearing isn't really satisfactory either).

0.4.5 should have completely fixed the type ahead.  But a new problem 
surfaced involving paste events.  Now sometimes the paste event gets 
"stuck" in the event queue so it doesn't occur until some other type event 
comes along to "unstick" it.  Working on this one too.
