impact printers on Linux -- LINUX5250

I have been trying to get an IBM 4226-302 and an IBM 2380 plus dot matrix 
printer to run under linux but have had no luck. I have tried it on Fedora 
and SuSe desktop but neither one seems to work.
I could not find any drivers for these printers on the internet and generic 
drivers don't seem to work.
If anyone has had similar problems and found a solution to get these printers 
to run could you please reply back. Even if u have had some experience with 
this problem i would be interested to know your findings.
