Are you running tn5250 from the console, or from an xterm?

>From the console:

You need to set your terminal type to 5250 and load the appropriate
keyboard map.  For example:

          $ export TERM=5250
          $ loadkeys /usr/local/share/tn5250/us5250.map
          $ tn5250 as400.example.com

>From X, you need to run the xt5250 script:

          $ xterm as400.example.com
