You can also put the font setting in .Xresources (or .Xdefaults).  It may
be better to put them in .tn5250rc as Scott suggests so that you keep you
configuration all in one place.  But you do have options :)  Here is what
I have in my .Xresources:

xt5250*cursorColor              : gold
xt5250*pointerColor             : yellow
xt5250*Font                     : 7x13
xt5250*loginShell               : off
xt5250*scrollBar                : off
