The preamble implies that you can use it for programs:
} This license, the Lesser General Public License, applies to some
} specially designated software packages--typically libraries--of the
} Free Software Foundation and other authors who decide to use it.
"Typically libraries" says to me that it could be used for programs,
even if the FSF don't do so.
A reasonable interpretation would be that main() is part of the
"library" referred to in the text of the license, with the code in
crtbegin.o and crtend.o being the remainder of the program.
In any case, a few other programs have been released under the LGPL,
like afio, aspell, and sketch on my system.
