I guess I'd have to check out the particular SSL tunnel or proxy that you're running on your firewall to know for sure. It seems to me that as long as the certificates are traded successfully, and encryption/decryption works, it shouldn't make too much difference whether the client is doing the SSL, or whether a proxy is doing it... But, that's just me applying logic -- not experience :(
