  • Subject: tn5250 with gcc 3.0, and on PARISC architecture

LaMont Jones has reported a couple of problems with tn5250 0.16.1 (and
presumably the CVS version as well) in the Debian bug tracking system:
see <URL:http://bugs.debian.org/97380>.

There are two issues:

1. In gcc 3.0, printf is a macro, so the preprocessor conditionals in
src/tn5250.c syntax() don't work. LaMont has provided a patch:

2. The config.guess and config.sub files in the distribution tarball
apparently need to be updated to the current versions for configure to
work properly on PARISC. LaMont points to the CVS repository at
<URL:http://subversions.gnu.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/config>, which are the
same ones that Debian's libtool package in unstable has included since
last month.

Can someone see about getting the patch above or something similar
checked into CVS, and try to remember the second point when the time
for the next release rolls around?
