Why not do something like lp5250d outputcommand='scs2ascii|myfilter' ??? This seems a whole lot simpler than the solution you're suggesting, and its already implemented in lp5250d... Its also more consistent with the UNIX way of thinking... Of course, if you WANT to deal with the SCS datastream directly, you could just say: lp5250d outputcommand='myfilter' All of this was part of the design... or is there some added functionality to your approach that I'm missing?
