Java isn't quite as functional (you can't, for example, trap the right control key - at least not last I checked). You'd get 95% of the end result by doing so - but then there are plenty of Java applets for 5250. Of course, I'm not trying to discourage you, it's certainly useful, but I swore off Java when I swore off Windows <g> (Java's not that bad, mind you, I just think it tries to solve a political problem with code...
