This situation might be more common than you think - I see this error message
quite a bit when looking at files through SQL, particularly the output of a
DSPJRN. The contents of the JOESD field of a DSPJRN *OUTFILE contain the
journalled data, and this frequently causes SQL to choke. With Client Access,
you just get dumped back at the main interactive SQL screen (or wherever you
run the SQL from).

Occasionally I'll get something similar looking at a joblog (from a
DSPJOB/WRKJOB option 10, not the spool version) where packed values in a
character parm of a CALL cause tn5250 to dissapear - though this hasn't
happened for a while now.

Regards, Martin

OT. Sean, did you try out DBG? If so, what did you think?
