Well actually, you have to modify ltconfig in order for it to know that it can build shared libraries, and how to build them. Let me see... I've done that recently... In the case statements, there is a place where it defines the -KPIC where it has sysv4 | sysv4.2uw2* | sysv4.3* | sysv5*) and then later on where it's actually telling you how to do the linking it doesn't have a case for sysv4.2uw2*. This is what's causing it not to work.. This is a problem with the glib, gtk+, glade, ... from gnome which I was recently compiling. Of course this is on UW2.1, not UW7. I would think that for UW7 you would just need to add it in whereever you have the UW2.1 cases...
