Well, this morning I took a look at the ibm3151 entry in the version
10.2.7 of
terminfo (RedHat comes with version 9.x) and it kind of worked. I
noticed that
after doing some initialization, it then uses the 3163 entry for the
function keys
and such. I played around with it and got a much better display (it
really looks
like a 3196 display...almost!) when using the ibm3161 entry, but still
no function
keys. I have the manuals for the 3151 (operations and the one for the
adapter card
that emulates a WYSE50) but not the programmer's reference manual.
Checked with
IBM and it's out of print. Guess I'll have to play around with the
terminfo entry
and see what happens.

Tried the above and it seems to work great...so I figured what the heck,
so I
tried TERM=ibm3161 instead of 3151. Like I said above, the screen
displays almost
as good as a real 3196. But (isn't there always more than one but in my
e-mails?)
when I try to go to a man page, I get a message that says something
about the
terminal not being properly initialized...so like I mentioned
previously, I guess
I'll have to play around with the terminfo entries...

Thank you very much for your help (and everybody else...) and I will
keep you
posted to any changes. BTW, to compile the lp5250d program, do I just
need to
download the lp5250d.c file or is there more to it than that? Will
lp5250d be
distributed as a separate package?

Once again, thanks for your time Jay, Mike (1 and 2), et al.

Jose
