This is true, if you're using an Applet (not an application) however, if you wanted to use a different machine as your web server, a simple proxy will allow you to forward the TN5250 across to your AS/400. > > The only Problem is that this Applet only work in IE > > from Kro$ ! , because it uses Java 1.1. > > Netscape for Linux (for example) doesn't seems to be > > using this Java. Hmmm... I haven't tried the "AS400 Telnet Applet" from modernminds.com, but, I am running Navigator 4.61 on RedHat 6.1 and its Java 1.1.5, I've got Navigator 4.5 on FreeBSD, which is also running 1.1.5, and Navigator 4.7 on Windows, which is also running 1.1.5. Do you mean Java 1.2? AFAIK, Netscape has been running one version or another of Java 1.1 since Navigator 4.0 came out... > > > > Does anyone know if Netscape (for Linux) use Java 1.1 > > (or higher) or will do it in future ? > > Or is there a navigator in Linux using Java1.1 ? As a suggestion, if you can't get anywhere with Netscape, you might try Sun's JDK (Java Development Kit) which comes with a program called "appletviewer" that can be used to run Java applets. This, at least, should be available in a very new version of Java, since its directly from Sun.
