hmm, this did work, so problem fixed :-) The strange thing was that
it did work for some other 400's on the net that I found at
www.netcraft.co.uk.

You are so correct concerning security, at this moment this is
something we did not yet look at.
(it is a play 400 (or R&D as our manager calls it), it is not
connected to our internal network and there is no company data
on it, there are only 2 PC's and a dump terminal connected to
this 400, and now a 28k8 modem to the internet.)

Your advice to put a Linux firewall before it is certainly 
something wel will look at, I did also read that for a pure Firewall
function *BSD is also a good option?
