Hmm, this Sep 2023 date is only a year after the planned EOS date stated at: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/java-sdk-lifecycle-dates
Java 8 planned EOS is April 2025 as per that same site. Which ties in rather nicely with the 3 year release life cycle of IBM i. Providing that life cycle still holds water as 7.3 hits EOS only 2 years after 7.2 hit EOS.
Which is funny when you think that Java 11 EOS is earlier at October 2024 as per https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/semeru-runtimes-support#lifecycle
Sure hope they get Java 17 on IBM i as per the "Future consideration" at https://ibm-power-systems.ideas.ibm.com/ideas/IBMI-I-3275 17 is supposed to be last until Oct 2027 as per one of the previous links.
