Also the private pool vs. a shared pool. That memory can be in the same
shared pool as all the other HTTP servers since the paging characteristics

Hmm. The instructions we gave said to give the pool at least as much space as the maximum heap specified for Tomcat. We have Tomcat defaulting to 2048, in megabytes, and our experimental Tomcat subsystem, accordingly, is set to 2097159, in kilobytes.

The customer in question had the pool on their subsystem 768 kilobytes.

I think we may have the reason why everything went crazy as soon as they tried to launch.
