We're using applets because we need some fairly heavy duty data access
performed by the applet inside a firewall and then sent back to the
server which is outside the firewall. It's a CLOUD solution with an
optional ability to get local data if needed.

Would a seperate Window holding the applet and a "Application XYZ needs this to work" be usable, or should it be invisible?
