RE: Invoking Java by programmatically calling a JVM to get resultvalues

Don't use AS400ProgramCalls. Where an RPG program is calling java, the java is running in the same job as RPG; use QTEMP like you would any other library. QTEMP belongs to the job. Same should work for CLLE when you work with java as an ILE procedure. It wouldn't work using the JAVA command as that will start JAVA in a new job. I'm not up to date on CLLE and I don't know all the specs for using java as a CL procedure.

If the values to be returned are fairly static, I like to use data areas. Easy to SUBSTRING in CL. Put them in QTEMP so they're in memory. JT400(JTOpen) has all the code.

We have found that QTEMP is not available for the AS400 ProgramCalls as they happen in a prestarted job, not the Java process itself. Do you know a trick to do this?
