there is a method on the AS400File object called runCommand, you can use this to set the library list of the DDM server job. (assuming you've tried everything else and it is just that the file isn't in your library list).

I started of using the Record Level access classes, but found them overly complicated when switching environments, library lists etc.

I use JDBC and prepared statements now, passing in a connection to my classes, that has come from a sigleton conection pool object that has a cache of preconnected connections for envs.

Might not be of any help to you... but if your interested I'm happy to share the code.

Subject: Reading sequential a database
To: "Java Programming on and around the iSeries / AS400" <JAVA400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hello,

I try to read a database file in sequential mode. I use the %LIBL% to set
the library list. Unfortunately I get the error that the file is not found.
Does someone know why?

The code....

AS400 as400 = new AS400();
//chglibl
QSYSObjectPathName fileName = new
QSYSObjectPathName("/QSYS.LIB/%LIBL%.LIB/XY.FILE");
SequentialFile sFile = new SequentialFile(as400,
fileName.getPath());
AS400FileRecordDescription recDesc = new
AS400FileRecordDescription(as400, fileName.getPath());

sFile.setRecordFormat(recDesc.retrieveRecordFormat()[0]);
sFile.open(AS400File.READ_ONLY, 0 ,
AS400File.COMMIT_LOCK_LEVEL_NONE);
Record record = sFile.readFirst();

Thanks
Michael
