My two cents worth : I have been very pleased with writing
almost anything in Java. The several applications I have turned
out have, as usual, been subject to feature/enhancement requests
from the several different type of users supported. The
enhancements/additions have been *very* easy to implement. I
believe it to be due to the 'object oriented' basis of Java. I
spent no more time in design than usual but adding functionality
just seemed a *lot* easier with *less* of a tendency toward
unintended consequences.

Given that, it still won't ever run as fast as rpg on the i. But
if I were to *have* to move away from the i, Java would
certainly be my language of choice. To keep from being locked
in to Windoze if nothing else, but I sincerely like it. YMMV...
